Extracellular RNA from the plasma of 40 individuals from the Framingham Heart Study were isolated using miRCURY RNA isolation kit Biofluids (Exiqon). Small RNA Library preparation was done with Ion Total RNA-Seq Kit v2 (Thermo Fisher Scientific) and the samples were sequenced with the Ion Proton.
